Many people hate the fine lines and wrinkles on their faces, but can’t afford cosmetic fillers, or aren’t comfortable with those procedures. For many, skin needling is a great solution. Skin needling treats the superficial epidermal fine lines and wrinkles in the skin. Small, fine needles lightly prick the skin, breaking up the collagen strands that are tethering the intended wrinkle. The skin swells, the needle pricks fuse, and the edges of the epidermis begin to adhere. Collagen producing cells (fibroblast) and the release of growth factors form at the puncture sites, build up in the wrinkle, and fill it in. Within a few days, all associated redness or irritation at the injection sites is completely healed. Patients should allow a month in between treatments, and depending on the condition of the skin, 2-6 treatments are required.
