VelaShape Cellulite Treatments
It is estimated that 80% of all women, and many men, over the age of 20 have cellulite. For years, people have tried body treatments and procedures to rid themselves of cellulite, but these treatments were either surgical, expensive, painful, or ineffective. Today there is a new solution--VelaShape--and we were the first to introduce this treatment to Las Vegas after helping to perform its FDA trial results.
What is VelaShape and what does it do?
VelaShape is a non-invasive technology that stimulates your body to help reduce the appearance of cellulite while also obtaining circumferential reduction. The VelaShape treatment allows delivery of focal thermal stimulus to localized areas of subcutaneous fat and cellulite. This treatment works through a synergy of suction, infrared energy, and deep radio frequency (RF). It was developed by Syneron, the creaters of elos technology. Through the synergy of the system and the delivery of the heat and RF through unique rollers over the skin, the result is an increase in the metabolism of stored energy (lipolysis), an increase in lymphatic drainage, and a reduction in size of the actual fat chamber. Ultimately what you will see and feel is a reduction in the circumference of the treated area and a smoothing of the overall skin in the treated area.
VelaShape treatments are done as a series, usually with 1-2 sessions a week, with a total of eight treatments performed. A maintenance program is suggested after the initial treatments are completed to help maintain your long-term results.
What areas are treated with VelaShape?
There are two treatment heads of different sizes that allow multiple areas of the body to be treated whether they are larger, or smaller. The most common treated areas are the thighs (front and/or back), hips, and buttocks. However, the stomach or waist can also be treated, as can the arms. Most patients select 2-3 large areas (about the size of an 8x10 paper) to be treated within each 60 minute procedure.
VelaShape treatments may be done on their own, or they may be combined with mesotherapy treatments done by Dr. Rueckl for deeper fat and adipose tissue. Additionally, Skin Tightening (ST Refirm) treatments may also be done in conjunction to lift and tighten the skin after the VelaShape has effectively heated the underlying cellulite and fatty layers.
What is a VelaShape treatment like?
Before you begin a VelaShape series, photos and/or measurements may be taken for later comparison and a consent will be reviewed and signed. During each treatment, a technician will move the VelaShape head over the selected areas after applying a slick conductive spray that allows the head to glide over the skin with full contact. Conducted RF will pulse into the skin through the rollers of the head, increasing oxygen intracellular diffusion by heating adipose tissue (which contains cellulite) to a depth up to 10mm. Simultaneously, infared light will pulse and increase elasticity of the skin and heat subcutaneous fat to a depth of up to 3mm. Additionally, suction will manipulate and smooth out the skin to facilitate safe and efficient delivery.
During a VelaShape treatment, you will feel a heat sensation as the machine moves over your skin and concentrates on the affected areas. Depending on the density and depth of your cellulite, sometimes you might feel a slight pinch, but overall the treatment should be comfortable. You should have a warm feeling and some slight heat from the treated area for about an hour after the procedure. Although very rare, you might have some minimal bruising from a treatment, but this should be very light, if any. Treatments require no patient downtime and you can return to work or other normal activities immediately.
What kind of results can I expect from VelaShape?
You should have realistic expectations about your treatments and remember that VelaShape should be done in conjunction with regular exercise and healthy eating. VelaShape treatments should not be used as a weight-loss program. Multiple sessions are required for the best results, and you should expect your progress to improve with each visit. VelaShape is not permanent so a maintenance program will need to be done to maintain your results long-term.
You should expect to see a general smoothing of the appearance of cellulite in the treated areas, and a reduction in the circumference of the treated area as well.
How much does VelaShape cost?
VelaShape is offered as a package of eight 60-minute treatments for $2,500. This will treat 2-3 large areas. If additional areas need to be added for more time, those can be priced during a consultation. After you have completed an initial package of eight treatments, maintenance VelaShape treatments are offered at $150 per session. Should you wish to do smaller areas of the body for less than 60 minutes, or wish to add mesotherapy or Skin Tightening to your VelaShape treatments, we can price those for you during your free consultation with our technicians or with Dr. Rueckl.
